filling out our Question 1: I know the 424 is a capable cruiser however I've never sailed a ketch so would like to hear from those who own 424 "cutters" and ketchs and get a feel for the sailing characteristics of the two. Question 2: My significant other and I are going to retire this year. We plan to cruise the Bahamas, the Keys, the western coast of Florida and further. May be in a few years sail to Europe. I would like a boat that is a good livaboard, but has sailing performance. I'm looking at an older hull number. What should I be looking out for? Question 3: I'm looking for info about how well the ballast stands up if its hull fiberglass covering has been damaged. My question is should this be disqualifying in considering a purchase? The Pearson 424 and 422 have the same hull with a lead keel incased in fiberglass. At the aft end of the keel the fiberglass is about 3/4 inch thick. Above that is a deep sump. That is considered the weakness in the boat Question 4: I'm looking for a particular Pearson 424 or Pearson owner. Please send me your list. |
