    Thanks Bob and David.

Bob, can you recall the packing material/size you used when repacking the rudder post? Also, did you do 2 “loops” of packing or 3?

ALSO – if anyone can tell me the exact packing material size/composition, I’d be very grateful.

The cracks in question are on the forward bow section, some far forward; some near bulkhead (could be related to “beer canning”). Another long single crack is on the starboard side transom. They all appear to be surface level ( in the dark blue awlgrip). But not sure.

Truthfully, I don’t care about the appearance. I just want to know if any owners have actually had a hull breach or real structural failure in these locations. I’ve never hear of that, but figured this group would know.

I’ll get some photos today, but it’s hard to see because it’s dark blue.

    Evan,
Where can I find the “database” or Hull Registry? Is there a link on the site?

And for clarity, I’m not really asking a question about the hot water heater… it’s a question about the how A/C electricity can flow when the switches on my A/C panel are off.

    Hi All,
I know it’s been a long time coming, but I think Dave at Railmakers should be ready to hear from any of you who’d like to have the Mast Pulpits done.

I received mine about 2 weeks ago, BUT they were just a little off. The outboard leg was 36″, when the design called for 37-1/8″. As a result when the inboard legs were flat/flush with the deck, the outboard leg was about an inch higher than the sloping coachroof. I suggested to Dave that I could make a spacer, but he insisted I send them back to him to redo them. I haven’t received them back yet, but I know he sent them this week (should be at my door shortly). He planned to extend the leg 1-1/8″ and said after polishing, I wouldn’t be able to tell it was an added piece.

They look fantastic and so do the custom handrails that Dave made for me. So after summer sailing season is over, my big project will be removing my teak handrails and eye-brows and installing all these shiny new pieces. I’ll post some photos in October.

    Hi All,
Does the “owners registry” live somewhere on the website? I’m struggling to find it (though that may be my fault).

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi Ben,
    You’re on the list.

    Hi Gary,
I took you off the list.
So right now, we have eight of us. I’m still waiting for final confirmation from Dave and then the “test run” of the pulpits for my boat (I’ll be the guinea pig I guess).

Cool. I’m still waiting for Dave to give a final price (he sounds very busy). If I don’t hear this week, I’ll hit him up next Monday (trying not to pressure him, so he’ll cut us a good deal).

    HI David,
I have you on the list. I still have not finalized the deal with Railmakers. Dave seems very busy. I’ll keep you all posted.

    Hi Rob,
I’ve attached the document I got from the previous round of orders (from Railmakers in SoCal). Dave at Railmakers is currently working on mine. I gave him my deposit a week or so ago and he said it’d be probably 3 weeks before he was finished. For all who are interested in the Railmaker Mast Pulpits, they’ll be $800 a pair and Dave has asked to wait until we see how mine fit (I’m the guinea pig) before he cranks out a bunch of them. I have the list of folks who were interested (I believe its about 7 or 8 of you at this point).
Once Dave is confident with his design, you can start the orders. I’m sure he’ll be stoked.
If there are other fabricators doing the same work for less (and I suspect that is possible), I’m sure we’d all like to know. For reference, Dave is doing the Pulpits in 316ss and including the step and the bails.

Is it possibly for a 1.5″ shaft? I thought that was the measurement of the standard 424 shaft (1.5″)?

    Hi all,
I responded to the thread last night (via email) but it doesn’t appear to be here, so excuse me if I’m repeating.

The first mast pulpits (me being the guinea pig, using the design from last time) is currently underway. The first pair should be done in a couple weeks. Once we’ve confirmed they are the right design, Dave (at Railmakers) is ready to make more for anyone else interested. From Railmakers, they will be $800 a pair. Rob had asked about the design (to explore other fabricator options), so I’ve attached that here.

I’ll have more news once the first pulpits are made. I still have the list of interested parties (I believe 7 or 8 additional folks) and can pass that on to Dave/Railmakers any time. Once he’s ready, I’d recommend calling him and giving him your CC to start your work *(that’s how I did it).

    Best,
