Obituary for Ed Merrick sent by his brother Tom to Jack Tyler:

Edwin B. Merrick, 64, of West Acton Road, Stow, died Saturday, August 6, 2005 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was born in Boston, son of the late Lathrop B. and Barbara (Hall) Merrick.

Ed and his wife Jayne (Boynton) Merrick have resided in Stow since 1966. In addition to his wife, he leaves three children: Jeffrey Merrick of Stow, Jan Byrne and her husband Adam of DeWitt, MI, and Jennifer Brown and her husband Greg of Grantham, NH; a brother Thomas Merrick and his wife Mary of Durham, NH; three grandchildren, Jason and Caitlyn Byrne and Nathaniel Brown; a nephew Scott Merrick and his wife Stephanie, and a niece Kim Dumont and her husband Dan and their son Drew.

A highly skilled electrical engineer, he had his own consulting firm in medical electronics, Indulgent Technology. He worked tirelessly to benefit others through his engineering contributions.

He was an active member of the First Parish Church in Stow and sang in its choir. He also served in Stows town government and was a member of the Minuteman Power Squadron, the Appalachian Mountain Club, and the Amateur Radio Relay League.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 11 AM in the First Parish Church, Great Road, (Route 117 and 62) Stow. Burial will be private and is under the direction of Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, Maynard.
