I self installed a 24v 300S on our boat in 2013. The same forward battery is used to power the Windlass.
I did all the install work except for a fiberglass pad that needed to be built on the hull where the unit lives.
This unit works great when the wind is less than 15 knots. Above 15 knots I've sometimes wanted more ummph.
I'm not sure one of their duplex units could be fitted on the 424 but it would be worth investigating. Also not sure if it would be cost effective. I'm not sure how much more $$ I would have put into a thruster to get the extra uumph I only rarely need.
I (and the Admiral) will never go back to docking or maneuvering in tight marina quarters (fueling) without a thruster of some type.
