I emailed the Commander in charge of US Military PX’s and asked whether or not a Merchant Mariner’s
Document (MMD) is considered an acceptable Military ID for shopping in a PX. The commander’s assistant’s
answer, which basically amounts to “no,” is below. Now, you might get lucky and gain entry to some PX’s
with a MMD ID card simply because the local manager or cashier doesn’t know the rule covering it, but as
you can see below the official policy does not accept MMD’s except in very specific circumstances.
