I replaced both starbord side scupper hose this weekend and the manual bilge hose too.
in the process I found that the plywood wall in the forward section of the aft lazerette had been pressed against the steering quadrent – no damage to the hardware, but the wood has been neatly chafed away in that area. I cut that section out to give it clearance and coverd the hole. Something to look for next time you are back there.

Three weeks ago my buddy droped a pipe wrence into the bilge. I managend to get down there and retrieve it – need to find one of those 5’3″ willing petite girlfriends…… Big guys dont fit down there too well….

Next week it is time to drain the 2 year old fuel – bleed the line and see if I can wake the red beast.
Any advice on starting a Westerbeke w-60 that has not run for nearly 2 years? Oil is new, all filters too…..Batteries have a good full charge.

I spent yesterday replacing the 1.5″ hose for the
port midship deck drain. The one that goes through the
galley shelves and ends up under the aft bunk.
I once wrestled a 400 lb grizzly bear and didn’t feel
as bruised and as beat up as I do today….
Glad I did it though because as I gently twisted the
hose at the thru-hull, the hose just gave out. The
bottom side where you could not see was rotten and the
wires inside were all rusted out…. another disaster
avoided.

Hi Alan,

Glad we can amuse you. We weren’t sailing last
Monday. I, for one, was
upside down in the bilge replumbing my new holding
tank. Or something else
equally nasty.

But good to hear from you!

I just wanted to let every one know how nice this
MOnday is compared to last Monday.
Last Monday it was quiet here…no one was sending

any

posts. I couldn’t help but think maybe every one

else

was out sailing and I was stuck working or what

ever

it is I do here…. online most of time reading
sailing forums.
SO…. glad everyone is back…
