ok, Gotcha Norris!
As far as the dining, I favor the idea of a BBQ where everyone brings his own dinner and we all sit together and gam. I have an open, grassy area located at my marina, Maidstone Harbor Marina, that has picnic tables that seat about 20, and I could arrange more tables and seating if that is what is wanted. That could be the Saturday eve dinner. Friday nite could be dinner on the boats in the anchorage, pot luck.
Please, everyone let me know your preferences. Thatcher is correct stating that there are indeed great restaurants in E Hampton, but I think most of us are more interested in hanging on the boats and staying out of the more crowded and certainly more expensive restaurants. The rendezvous that I have attended in the past (Pearson and Hinckley) all had low key dining and stressed the interchange between owners.
I also thought that a list of subjects to be discussed might be fun. Maybe we don’t need a formal list, but I thought that especially for our newer 424 owners, some of the subjects might include W58 and W60 maintenance, fuel tank issues, rigging replacement options, travelers, interior lighting, batteries and charging systems, fresh water systems and fittings, steering maintenance, porthole replacement, refrigeration, electronics, etc.
Perhaps Rich and myself could run many of these as informal discussions with help from all?? I know we all have common issues with the 424’s and this would be a great opportunity to discuss them and actually see what other owners have done to upgrade their boats.
As for the anchorage, Thatcher recommends turning west at buoy “24”; That’s fine, but if you turn at “22” that is just as good. Either one will work and take you into safe water from the north/south running channel.
I recommend that we raft up, weather permitting, so everyone should be sure and bring 2 or 3 good sized fenders and lines. If the weather turns windy, we can break up and anchor individually close by one another and still get on many boats.
Keep the feed back coming.
