I’m not sure how or if they could ride up either, Rich, but the lee shroud is always a kind of loose when beating into a stiff breeze. Maybe the spreader tip could “jump” a bit in certain conditions. Anyway, as you say there is no harm in securing it, and maybe some good. It’s just something I was taught a couple of decades ago and kept doing.
