I think you nailed it. I have the same owner's manual with the 150 gal spec. I suspect the brochure is based on the design drawings and the owner's manual is based on the boats that came out of the shop. Maybe that's why there's a locker space aft of the main cabin tanks – the installed tanks were smaller than that in the specs.
That brochure was the original for my hull #2.

It's possible later model 424's have 20 gallons more water capacity than my #17. It's also possible, I suppose, that Pearson didn't know exactly how much water fit in the tanks, and used different approximate numbers at different times.
