I agree the grey tarps hold up to the UV better. EMT tubing also works well for ridge poles and support. David Thompson

I had an expensive cover made for my 30 and it lasted
only a few more years than I get with a well built
ridge pole and tarp.
I build a ridge pole using a series of saw horses 6
feet apart down the middle of boat (2×4’s). Pad these
with scrap carpet. Ribs also of 2×4’s, cut to match
the angle (depending on the height), go from the
center to the toe rail (pad these also). Space these
about the same as the stanchions. Total wood bill was
around 100. and lasts for years (if you dont throw
them off the boat in the spring).
DON’T BUY THE BLUE TARPS! The gray ones (black on the
other side) are much better and worth the money.
Also, DON”T USE THE GROMMETS! They will pull out in
the first good wind that gets under the cover.
I find nice round stones about an inch in diamenter.
put a stone behind the tarp where you want to put a
tie down, Twist the tarp around the stone and then tie
the rope around the outside.
I got 4 years out of the last tarp. Tarp costs 150.
