Hi,

Wow, I thought this list died. The last message I received was May 1 of 2007.

Regarding Spirit water heater, it is also in the port lazerette. I had to replace it a couple of years ago, it comes out through an opening into the aft cabin berth area. The opening is a square cut out of the bulkhead. The cut out is screwed back into place. When I installed a 2 gallon accumulator tank (from Lowe’s), it was enough to eliminate the leaking from the 75psi relief valve on the water heater.

Regarding the electric anchor windlass in the bilge, it works great. The idiosyncrasies are the last 200′ of 400′ of 3/8 chain have to be hand lifted to the shelf forward of the windlass. And occasionally, maybe every 50′ or so, the chain pile bunches up so you have to stop bringing the chain in and go back and push the chain pile over. I never thought of it as too bad, especially with the mid ship companionway. I spent several months hanging out in anchorages in the Sea of Cortez and loved it. The previous owners spent a couple of years in the South Pacific and had no issues I’m aware of. Also, the weight in the lower center of the boat helps, I think. I was on video racing a sister ship and could see her bow was much lower and we sailed by her.

Regarding where I put my vice, I have a thick floor board for the locker in the aft cabin. I bolted a vice to the underside, so it occupies the gap next to the thru hull fitting when not in use. The board has a U cutout to go around the hull fitting and hose. I bring the board out to use the vice.

Regarding being on this list, did I violate some rule by something I wrote before 5/2007?

Cheers,

Steve
