      Hello all again,

I am using more transmission (Velvet Drive) fluid than I think I should be using. I estimate I am adding fluid each 80 or so hours of operation. Maybe this is normal, but I don’t know where the fluid is going. I have used both ATF and 30W motor oil with no change in the fluid usage to speak of. I have also had the transmission rebuilt, but no change. I have noticed that pressure builds up in the unit itself, evidenced by the fact that if I check fluid immediately after shutdown, pressure is released when I pull out the dipstick. Any thoughts? Thanks!

      Hi David,

How’s the condition of your heat exchanger hooked up to your transmission? Would it be possible that it’s corroded and leaking transmission fluid out through your raw water?

Hello Rob, Thanks for the response. Yes, it is entirely possible that I am losing fluid through the heat exchanger. I should have mentioned in my original post that I had the heat exchanger ‘rebuilt’. But it has been a couple of years. Thanks for the reminder. That is the next step I will take: Have the heat exchanger pressure checked.
