      Good Day Forum,
We just returned to the Florida panhandle from the Keys after a leisurely four month cruise. A great time with few problems.
We have had continuing problems, however, with our alternator, a Balmar that came with the engine. It’s a single foot model, which apparently replaced the original Westerbeke two foot model. Despite detuning the Balmar for less power, we continue to burn belts, experience a lot of belt slippage after engine start, and actually broke the single foot mount bolt at one point. Frankly, with the solar system on board, we really don’t need much power from the alternator, and I’m tiring with always messing with the Balmar. I’m seeking a two foot model that’ll fit the engine. Like the original model installed by Westerbeke.
Does anyone know of or possess a workable two foot alternator that they’d be willing to sell? And while I’m at it, and on a different but related subject, have the tachometer for this engine that they’d like to unload? My tach works, but a bit sporadically. Could also get it rebuilt if I knew a rebuild source.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts…

      David
