      Hi All,

I have totaly struck out on a rebuilder for my Westerbeke W60 fresh water pump.
Any suggestions for a good source in New England?

      Thanks – Eric

As I recall, Transatlantic Diesels had a source for these things. The one issue being that the pulley needs to have a couple of holes drilled to mate with the thing. If their supply has dried-up, There are some spares kicking around in spare parts bins of various owners who still have the engine.

      Hi Eric.

While I haven’t taken mine apart yet, pumps are usually pretty easy to
rebuild yourself. I have just taken apart my raw water pump for the genset.
Took the old bearings and lip seal to the local bearing shop and came out
with new bits a few minutes later. Bearings are typically $10-20 and seals
less than $10. The main tool you usually need is a simple gear puller.
However, others that have rebuilt these may have better insight.

      Hi Eric,

I forget the name of the Westerbeke supplier I have – I'll get the name and forward it to you. Apparently they have the best prices and supplies for Westerbekes.

      Look forward to more…

      OK,

My good friends at Bridge Marine Supply in City Island, NY (Bronx) told me these guys have the best prices for Westerbeke parts: http://www.mtspowersystems.com/

Realize they're dealing in generators, but although we know the company as marine power, their big thing is generators. Anyway, there you go. Let me know how it works out.

Have you tried http://www.thornycroftengines.co.uk in England. I was able to buy a
crankshaft pulley for my 1978 Westerbeke.

If you are ordering from Thornycroft you may want to consider anything else you could possibly need, glow plugs, piston rings, gaskets sets…. shipping is horrendously expensive (upwards of $50). Getting everything at once will save you bit of money.

Good luck. TAD can be a great source for parts, but watch them. The guy who runs the place can be hard to deal with.

      Regards
