      Hi All –
Navasana, Portsmouth NH, Hull #78 was launched on Friday, May 16 11:43 from Eliot Maine on the Piscataqua river about 2nm up river of the marina. Engine started right up and we motored down river to Kittery Landing Marina Under I-95 and 2 draw bridges.
I was very nervous docking as it was the first time I had ever done it in a boat so large (really looks big with all the rigging up). Captain Tom – the marina manager, was at the slip to receive us and direct me in. Docking went smoothly so day one under my belt and did not break anything – yipiee.

Saturday was an in port day anchoring the stanchions and life lines, tuning the standing rigging and totally softscrubing the deck – wow she cleaned up nicely.
Sunday morning 6:13 am we shoved off on our maiden voyage, motored out of Portsmouth Harbor under clear skies and calm waters. About half an hour later we set sails, all canvas up in a south-east breeze of 10 – 15 knots. Perfect shake down cruise weather! At one point we hit 7.3 knots. Laurie has a great newbie sailor story to tell about sitting on the head in a healing sailboat.

I won’t bore you with the details of testing different points of sail – all good. We sailed out to Isles of Shoals, south around the ocean side to Anderson Ledges and back up between

the Islands past Halfway rock to R N “2”

The wind died down to 5-7 knots, we headed back in from the shoals under auto pilot at about 2.5 – 3 knots then motored up the harbor. Second docking did not go as smoothly as the first. I came in a bit too fast. Luckily we had lots of fenders up and did not damage anything – gonna have to practice that.

Next weekend I am on board Thursday – Monday need to get radar connected and finish wirering the electronics (no depth or speed or wind guages displaying).

If anyone is in the Portsmouth area stop on by Kittery Landing Marina on Badger Island just on the Maine side of Memorial bridge.
