Has anyone used KiwiGrip roll-on non-skid deck paint (http://www.pachena.com)?

      Tor:

There were several good comments about KiwiGrip and other non-skids in this
      discussion.

Thanks, Paul. I’ve read through that discussion. It’s sadly inconclusive, but the general impression
seems to be that KiwiGrip is a reasonable choice for new non-skid. I’ve just ordered a gallon of the
stuff. Check back in 5 years and I’ll let you know how its holding up.

Are you grinding of your old non-skid, or is this just for around the anchor
      locker area?

      Paul,

I am, first and foremost, painting over my new, raw epoxy foredeck patch (photo attached) once I’ve
faired it. As for the rest, I’m not grinding anything off, but intend to paint over the old non-skid on
the entire foredeck and, probably, the side decks. The original factory gel coat on my boat is in very
good shape, as are the decks in general, but I don’t feel Pearson’s non-skid pattern is coarse enough
where it most counts. However, I may leave the coachhouse, the cockpit and its coamings as they are, at
      least at first. We’ll see.

Looks interesting. If you find anything out, please keep us informed.

I painted my side-decks and cockpit with 2-part polyurethane with nonskid added a few years ago and found the deck to be so slippery that it was dangerous. I painted over it with West Marine 1-part polyurethane non-skid paint. It has good adhesion and makes a good nonslip surface but I don’t like the texture. It clumps when you apply it. I’m looking for a better coating for the top deck. I’ve decided to put a teak deck down in the cockpit, but I don’t want to put it down elsewhere.

I've decided to go with the KiwiGrip. It's easy, non toxic, and inexpensive (Inexpensive? On a boat? How dare I?)

The projects they show look really good, and it will hide all my sins.

      Bob,

How much of your decks are you planning to paint with KiwiGrip?

I should be getting mine in a week or so, and expect to be applying it shortly thereafter. Will let you know how it goes. My only concern is the hot weather down here, which I gather can start the paint curing very quickly.

      Hi Tor,

I plan to do all the non-skid, cabin top, side decks, cockpit, etc. Maybe the mast. Just kidding there…
