ParticipantI’m curious about the potential use of the storage area under the lift top to the left of the head sink. Was this designed as a laundry hamper? Are others using this space for something besides a catch all? Suggestions?
Thanks

ParticipantI built a false bottom in it that can easily be removed. Anything could be stored below the false bottom.
The false bottom was built at a depth slightly less than the length of the Admiral's arm..
We use it to store towels and washcloths..Rick

SpectatorYes, that was definitely a hamper. I have the factor original (I guess) hamper bag, but the PO wrote their boat name on it so its in the garage. I’m going to use old sails to make a new bag some day.
I also saw one P424 that had put in a racks to hold SCUBA tanks under their hamper bag. I don’t have a link to that unfortunately.

Spirit has the brackets for dive tanks you can see in this link: http://www.searspirit.com/spirit/galley_mid.htm
While cruising, we did have two tanks there, plus all of our snorkeling gear, BCDs, etc. piled on top of the tanks, underneath the hamper bag. It worked great as my arms are just long enough to reach stuff on the bottom. We sold the dive gear after we got back from cruising. Now I store paper products there, paper towels, Kleenex boxes, etc…

ModeratorI wonder if I can store my surface air supply compressor there? I hadn't thought about that – I was going to open the part near the head in some fantastically complicated way and store my tools in there.

ParticipantWasher is Haier #XQBM22C Top section comes off a couple inches below the lid, everything hangs on springs from top. We cut a couple in section from bottom, screwed/caulked it into a hole in counter then just reinstalled the top section. Installed access port in front, ran drain hose to shower, hook up for water fits faucet in basin. Pics when I find some broadband.

What a great find. I never would have thought there would be a washing
machine that would fit in that area. It looks like that model may be
discontinued now, but I did see a few still for sale. They now have a
slightly larger model available. It will be interesting to see how you did
the installation. The new model (6.6 lb versus 4.9 lb) is 1.25 inches
deeper, but a bit shorter, so it may still fit.Now I know what to get the Admiral for Christmas

Wow-looks like some great sailing.I’d like to hear more-who’s boat, who went, what were the wind conditions, especially early in the video surfing down the waves and sail settings. The Pearson looks like it’s screamimg down wind-I have more respect, confidence, and love for the 424’s after this viewing.
