I believe I copied the attached 424 Lifting Plan illustration from an original owner’s manual “Docking Plan”, which I then cleaned up and enhanced for my purpose. I keep several printed copies of this in the nav table. Each time I haul out, I hand one to the lift operator and hold another copy in my hand to check his positioning of the straps. So far, so good.

Of course, I have no idea whether this would’ve had any effect on what happened to Adam.

Thanks for the attachment. I don’t think I had one of those diagrams. That’s precisely where I have them attach the slings. The diagram is a much better way to instruct the yard crew.

I noticed the warning about tying a length of line between the straps. I had the forward sling slip on me many years ago. No damage was done except for the brown stain in my pants.

I still have my original owner’s manual, but I don’t remember the page in there. Maybe the previous owner took it out for some reason or perhaps the earlier boats didn’t have it.

Yes, that’s the page I used, but as you can see I cleaned it up and enhanced it a bit to emphasize the straps for the lift operator. Didn’t want him distracted.

I think that the older boats didn’t have it. I have all the original paper
work and that’s not in there. Thanks for scanning those documents I can’t
wait to get a chance to print it out and check for differences.
