I think that a shutoff valve at each appliance is a requirement. It need not be electronic however. I had my boat inspected for insurance purposes a number of years ago. At that time, my cabin heater had only a valve on the heater to shut off the gas supply. The report listed this as an insurance defect. I hat to fix it. I added a mechanical valve where the gas connects to the heater.
