RichCarterParticipantI paint my propeller and shaft with outdrive paint. It seems to work pretty well even if I don’t bother with the primer.

That stuff is okay as long as you don’t spin the prop. In use, it wears
off very quickly.Syringa wrote:

ParticipantMy experience with Petit Zinc Coat was not good. Results seem to be heavily dependant on location. I tried it after a friend had reported good results but it sure did not work for me. My boat resides on a mooring in a shallow pond that tends to get quite warm and stuff grows.

I use the outdrive paint because its in a spray can, easier to apply a smooth finish. My prop is stainless as is my shaft, so it might behave differently. I still get a little growth on the shaft, but nowhere near what it used to be. The prop seems to stay pretty clean.Rich

ModeratorHi Rich,
Where did you get a stainless prop? How much was it?

ModeratorEeeeaaahhh! I need a fixed prop because of my new shaft generator (which will be sea trialed on Sunday providing there's some wind). When fully installed, will post on my blog and give notice to everyone.
