ParticipantHi Quent,
I have been saving this old message of yours with the thought that I should do something about my clouded Beckson plastic ports. If you still have a small Bomar cast aluminum one in your garage, would you be willing to sell it to me and ship it to my address below? I would like to be able to check-out the fit. If all looks good I would then plan to purchase another five and rebuild them all over the coming winter.
If agreeable with you, you can contact me by phone or private e-mail and I will send you a check for the part and the shipping cost.
Regards,
Phil Fontaine

ParticipantHi Phil-
Give me a couple days to dig them out and see if I have all the parts. Be advised that many on the forum don’t have a real high opinion of Bomar opening ports. My own experience is that they often leak, and in cold weather, sweat enough to discolor the interior teak paneling.
The ones I have need at least new lexan, rubber seals and paint. A couple lack the outside trim rings. You might do better with new Becksons.
OTOH, rebuilding Bomars would be cheaper than new stainless steel ports.

Phil,
Are you looking for original 424 portlights (non-opening) or portholes (opening)? I have a pair of portlights laying around. I think they’re in decent condition.

Don,
I’m just now reading recent 424 emails, but I did respond to this on the web site somewhere. I have two of the original long portlights, complete. Will eventually have four small original portlights to offload, as well, when I get around to installing some replacement opening portholes I picked up.

SpectatorI am also planning to replace all of my portholes in the next three months. I’d be willing to part with them as well. I’ll send out more when I see what shape they are in after I attempt to not destroy them when I remove them.
