      Thatcher,

You wrote, “I put a ‘guy’ wire rope on the end of the chain to twist the anchor in to position as she rolls on up.” Can you describe that in more detail, or send a photo or two of how you set that up?

      Thanks,

      Tor

Roger that, Thatcher. I sent my email before Rodd’s question and your answer appeared. Yours sounds like an interesting solution to an age-old problem, but as Linus so aptly put it, “I think that I still need a picture.”

I use the windlass to bring the anchor up out of the water and then just reach over and pull the chain to bring the anchor the rest of the way aboard – it may be my installation but if I use the windlass to do the whole job, the chain will jump just as the anchor is coming over the roller with rather stressful results.  It's just easier to pull it up and be done with it.

Will this work in 10 years?  Maybe not, but for now it's the only way I can safely get the 30Kg Bruce aboard.

I have a Maxwell 1200, by the way.
