ParticipantWith all the discussion about paneling replacement I thought it might be useful to point out an article in the December issue of Soundings.
Tom Neal writes about a number of upgrades to his 1975 boat including porthole and paneling replacement. He used a white material called Komatex as a replacement for teak plywood. The results look great in the photos.
Is anyone familiar with the properties price and source of Komatex? Any experience working with it?

I have not used Komatex but I have used Kydex ( http://www.kydex.com/home ) when I redid the interior of my Bonanza several years ago. Right now i have a stack of about 10 four by eight sheets sitting in my shop. I plan to use the Kydex for my headliner once I have finished most of my other projects.

To tell you the truth I can’t remember. I asked for and received a sample of what they offer. The choices are amazing – color, texture, thickness, and fire resistance are all a part of the decision process.
