We just did some cabin work on Lady Leanne and had to hold lumber for the glue to set. Try using 1×1’s as shims across to the opposite wall. Cheap and springy. Use a flat section of ply as a base for the shim to spread out the pressure and protect the wood finish on the glued piece.
