Lets try this again..
I am looking at what to insulate the wires with for this project. Leaning toward basic foam 1.98 / 6ft vs rubber at 6.00/6ft. Budget says use the basic foam – comments?Post generated from Pearson424 Forum using Mail2Forum

I assume that you are referring to keeping the harness from rattling? Most folks use foam, the kind used to insulate water pipes.Don’t forget to lace-in a steel wire with the bundle. Fasten the steel wire to the mast somewhere at the top of the mast so that it takes the weight of the bundle. Otherwise the wires will stretch over a few years and fail.

Rich

Participantagree with Rich regarding pipe insulation foam–also you can use very large wire ties so that even the foam is kept away from the mast–this worked very well for me 2 years ago on my mast rewire.

Great idea on the steel wire, was wondering how I would keep everything in place.
Thanks— On Fri, 12/18/09, Rodd Leeds <> wrote:

SpectatorIf you have the rig down you could put in a PVC conduit. That is my plan.

The rig is down. I did consider conduit but not sure about attaching. Figured if I used rivits there would be a chafe point inside the conduit that could be an issue.

SpectatorMy yard reccomended 2 rivets every three feet. The reason for the 2 rivites is so you can use one hole to fish the PVC up and set the first rivet. Then you do the first rivet in the second set and come back to the second rivet in the first set.
Like this
**|— 3′ –|**|— 3′ –|**|— 3′ –|**|— 3′ –|**…If anyone has a better idea I’m open to it. This is just how it was explained to me. Doesn’t make it the only way.

You could do it with only one rivit hole every 3 ft. by looping monofiliment line in every seconed hole. Feed the line in so the loop confroms to the inside of the mast. then when you run the condiut you can use the monofiliment line to pull the conduit snug to the inside of the mast.
