As time goes by I’m sure that I will have replaced everything and need to start at the begining again. I have a holding tank and overboard discharge. I pulled the old hose off the seacock and was suprised to find that the hose slipped off with ease. That was great since the location requires an uncomfortable position to be able to close and open it, much less work on it. There was no hose barb just a smooth piece of pipe that had been bent into a 90. I plan to remove that and replace with a hose barb. My question is about the hose. I have used pvc hose for my bilge pumps and have had no issues. I was thinking that it should be fine for the sanitation hose as well. Has anyone used the Home Depot varity of pvc spa hose for this purpose? All new homes use pvc for sanitation plumbing so I would think that the oder should be contained. Obviously the discharge is below the waterline is that an issue? Any input will be appreciated.

I’ve been using marine sanitation hose wrapped in saran-wrap with a final layer of duck tape with good success. There are articles available about this technique.

Haven’t tried the spa-hose and would be interested to hear what you find.

      Hi Linus,

I think you should use real sanitation hose. It's designed for what you're trying to do and lasts for years and years.

That said, I'd sure like to find out how your installation goes.  I mean, I hope 10 years down the road you can give a report…
