SpectatorI’m working on my new nav desk and seat. Here’s a pic of the roughed-in
desk http://www.flickr.com/photos/deepplaya/5503887446/ I still need to work
out how it easily move out of the way. But, As part of that I’m going to put
in an aft facing box-seat and I want to remove the large post to which the
old swing-out seat is attached, similar to Sea Duty’s:

ModeratorHi Pat,
No, I don’t believe the post is structural. In fact, Lee (Morning Glory)
has removed his and made a box to sit on there.Bob

The post is not structural.Interesting to see what folks have done with the original nav station. As
built, the nav station was less than confortable. I banged my head against
the breakers one too many time. I made the table deeper and move the post
inboard. With a wider table-top, the nav-station is more comfortable.I met the orignal owner of Sea-duty about 20 years ago on a rendezvous. As
I recall, he was a retired navy captain.Regards
