ParticipantThere are some padeyes on my booms each with four mounting holes, all
in-line. One is aobut 5″ long and one is about 3″ long. Picture with
ruler here: http://www.dublerfamily.com/Regina_oceani/BoomPadeyes.JPGDoes anyone know who makes ones like these? I need to replace one of each.
Thanks,
Pete

Moderator+1 for Rich’s assessment. I don’t think you can even purchase them anymore.

ParticipantI removed the”padeyes” one was broken anyhow. They were used for the end of the 1st and 2nd reefs.
When I had my new main sail built, I had what they call dogears put in the reef cringles. Now I tie a bowline around the boom ( loose footed main), run the line up through the ring in the dogear and back down to a cheekblock on the boom. This works quite well. The end of the reefingĀ lines do not depend on those cheap cast padeyes mounted with those little screws. The original idea was to put blocks on the dogear rings to reduce the friction of the line going over or though the reef cringles. I am pretty pleased with how it works – as I single hand often.
