Awhile back I inquired for solutions for covering up the old
registration numbers when changing the state registration on an
inflatable dinghy. Someone suggestion using glue-on plates sold by WM
      and I went that direction.

The company that makes the plates is boatnumberplate.com, but there
are several other companies. You can buy direct from them on-line,
but I saved about $5 by going through WM. This product is not in the
current WM catalogue, but they still had them available in the
wharehouse and my local WM ordered them for me. What you get from WM
is key code, which you enter into the boatnumberplate.com online store
as payment. Enter the particulars of the plate you want (state,
number, color, Hypalon or PVC). I got mine in about a week.

The product appears to be sturdy and flexible so that it can take a
number of deflations and inflations. I secured them with 2-part
      Hypalon adhesive.

The only problem I encountered is I used much wider spacing when I
applied on the original numbers than that used on the plates. The
result is they don’t completely cover the old numbers. Florida only
provides one sticker, to be placed on the port side. The port side
plate has a space for the sticker. That plate is long enough to cover
the number on that side of the dinghy. The starboard plate is shorter
and doesn’t quite cover the numbers on that side. So I’ll have to get
a small bottle of white hypalon paint to cover two numbers from the
      old registration.

In spite of that issue and the fact they are a little pricey ($40 from
WM) I am happy with the product. It took less than 30 minutes to
install the new numbers. Paint over the old numbers and then applying
new numbers would have taken a lot longer and a more than one day to
      let the paint dry.

The fact this item is no longer in WM catalogue makes me believe WM
has dropped the product, but still had a few in stock.
