My boat is rigged with a single speed winch on the port side cabin top feeding to a regular cleat. For the main sail sheet. I am considering adding a cam cleat to expeidite sail handeling.
So as not to reinvent the wheel has anyone done this?
Is it as simple as screwing the cam cleat to the deck or does it need to be angle mounted since the sheet will feed rom the top of the winch down at about 30deg.Eric Lorentzon

I would think you would want the cam cleat ahead of the winch. It is a straighter feed in and you can use the winch to off load it easily if necessary.

SpectatorHere’s an example..

RichCarterParticipantGee, if you have a self-tailer, why the jam-cleat?

I moved mine inboard, too, for the same reason.
