Has any one come up with a better way to access the engine without having to lift off the top and then lift and store that monstrosity of a three sided WTF do I do with this?

      Just looking for ideas!

Ken, the front of mine can be removed allowing the 4 parts to be placed between the starboard settee and the salon table while I’m working on the engine.

I’m adding a second dipstick to the starboard side of the engine and putting a small access door over on that side as well so I can check the oil with out popping the lid.

I salvaged some hardware off a freight package and used them to securely hold the doghouse to the bulkhead.

I added some photos here for you to check out.

Cut the three sided piece into three separate pieces. when in place, join
with a solid rubber “bungie.” Mine is a rubber strap with a perforation in
each end, “snapped” to two “nobs”, one each mounted on the prt & strb
panels. I stow then all in the the U-shaped galley when engine access is needed.

      Ken,
I replaced the monstrosity with a new box described here:
      http://www.svsarah.com/Sarah/ewEngineBox.htm.

I got the idea from the PO of Chuck’s boat.

Thanks guys, I like the idea of those corner clamps John. I really see a place for drastic improvement here.
The upper panel above the shelf is also needed to be greatly improved. Maybe not this year, but I want to start forming a plan.
