All,
We know this boat and had a deal going on it late last year. Divorce situation. Lack of engine caused insurance problems which caused problems finding dockage, so we passed.
It’s bare-bones, not in bad shape considering 6 years of sitting at the dock, and could be a good project for someone. I have a ton of pics if anyone is interested.Evan

I’d be interested in the mast if the boat was beyond repair, but it sounds like that’s not the case!

Not at all. In fact, the boat appears solid (but we didn’t have her
surveyed). The only major work (as we recall):
1. Engine – frozen and has been sitting 6 years
2. Hole in top of transom (badly installed radar pole broke free)
3. Leak into nav station rotted out a small portion of the sole and the nav
desk. Electrical panel appeared fine.
4. Chunk of teak missing from toe rail.Caveat emptor, of course.

Engine replacement – $10K .. $25K depending on condition of the rest of the machinery + fuel-tank. Possible rebuild.
labor, 50..100 hrsHole in transom – $1k Assuming the bilge is kept dry, no big deal.
Leak in nav-station – $1k assuming dry-rot is not structural
Toe-rail – $100, assuming that the damage is just a small section and the hull/deck is OK

Must have hit send before I was finished typing.

If this is all that’s wrong, this sounds like a deal for someone who has a bit of time and a few extra bucks. I’d pick this up if it were close to me in NH. I don’t know what a used 424 goes for these days but it must be north of $50K.

I have a functioning, spare w58 engine, if that helps. I got it as a back
up spare for $1k three years ago. I think it needs a raw water pump, but
rest is there. My current engine appeares to be solid (knock wood) so I’m
going to let it go.Tkx

#56 currently has a (dead) W60. Unless I’m mistaken, different bed…so not
a drop in solution. Doable, however. On Wed, Aug 19, 2015 at 4:31 PM, Roger Bigger via maillist <

Parts are no longer available for the W60. Changing the engine bed isn’t all that difficult.

ParticipantIf someone bought it I might offer to take the engine out for them if they would let me have it for parts.

Hi Roger,
What would you let it go for and where is it?
