ModeratorHi All,
I'm missing a number of elbow catches on drawers (especially in the galley which is really annoying in boisterous seas). I hate the crappy Perko ones, even their brass ones. But I found a supplier of the catches that match the ones we already have:
The part is PLC206B; CATCH, ELBOW BURN. BRASS They are $10.10 each – more than the Perko, but far nicer.
Regards,
Bob

ParticipantEvery 10 years or so, Yung-Mi earns her keep. Try Rockler (http://www.rockler.com), solid brass elbow catch, $6.29@. Now I have to wait another 10 years.

ModeratorHi Adam,
That's true – but it doesn't look like ours – it's extruded and cut. The one from C.G. Edwards is cast, exactly like the ones already installed, at least in the older boats.
I wanted to match them, so that's why the extra $3.50 or so. But truly, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter all that much. (but I can be really picky)
Thanks,
Bob

There’s an advantage to being able to remove the old hardware and replace the exact same part. The catch will screw to the same holes and fit snugly. Are you sure these are exactly the same as original?Rich

ModeratorHi Pete, these are the same extruded and sliced catches Adam mentioned, just a different price. Rockler hasn't got the best prices for hardware.
Follow this link for a close up of the catch I'm talking about: http://www.cgedwards.com/phoenix/206.jpg, or for the whole page, http://www.cgedwards.com/phoenix/phnx3.htmlI will know about the screws fitting the holes this weekend.

ParticipantWhile we’re talking about the drawers, the cover from the stove was tossed through the galley. I forgot to secure the oven before going sailing. On the way down the top took the drawer pull teak ring right off the face of the drawer. Now the hole has a rough finish and could cause splinters. The hole is larger than any of the finger holes that I can find. Any help would be appreciated.

Which finger hole was taken out? I purchased a supply from Pearson before they closed… may have an extra.

ParticipantThe finger hole on the bottom galley drawer. It is about 1/4 inch bigger than the ones that WM stocks. I found some in Thailand but shipping and special order prices are over the top. I have thought of trying to make some with different size hole saws.

RichCarterParticipantIf it were I, I’d try the hole saw method. Assuming that you can find the right sizes, I think its doable but it would be tricky.

What is the size of hole – Marinco AFI has teak pulls for a 1.25″ hole.
Available in either 5/8″ or 1″ length.Paul

john stevensonParticipantIf you need to enlarge a hole, the best drill bit to use is a step-drill bit. Of course one to enlarge beyond 1″ could be expensive, but still a good tool to have in your kit.

john stevensonParticipantDidn't read the thread closely enough. Thought the problem was the available ring pull were too large for the hole in the drawer. Step-drill bit is still a good tool, but may not have much to do with this issue.

ParticipantWon’t be at the boat until Thursday. I’ll measure then and bring the drawer
home to try the hole saw and see if I can get that to work. The outside
diameter of the pull is the problem.Linus
