The little white “pulleys” on my traveler are disintegrating. Yesterday I tried to unscrew them but had no luck – even with PB blaster and a good impact driver. The screws just turned.
Is my assumption correct that I have to remove the traveler from the deck to get at a nut on the backsides?

      Thanks – Eric

      Hi Eric,

Many other owners have made a cut in the pylons that allow access to the inside. By cutting about 1″ from the edges on the outboard ends, you should be able to use a saber saw and then reach in. To finish the raw metal edges, you can purchase edging from an auto parts store or from Defenders.

You’re flogging a dead horse there. The original traveler that Pearson used was a piece of junk. If you can afford a boat unit, you might consider replacing it as long as you are planing to work on it.

I agree – check out Garhauer. They've made a number of travelers for the 424.

Running low on boat units….. Will try the cutout an add traveler to the want list (It was already there actually).

Good luck! Have fun. This will be one of the least expensive jobs you do.
