SpectatorSo, I’m not exactly sure what I have going on here. Luckily (?) I have a shot after my grounding clearly showing all the layers down to the gel coat.

So should I go with a Burgundy when I repaint?

ParticipantA friend with a black bottom on his boat ask me that. I told him any color but black, whales try to mate with black hulled sailboats. I thought he knew I was joking, but he changed the color.

ModeratorDo you like the color now? Or do you like burgundy? Go with what your heart says. I'm always tempted to go with shark white or better yet, copper color. But that's just me. What color is your boottop stripe? Cove stripe? If it's burgundy, then put a white line below your boottop of 3/4″ to 1″ and then paint the bottom burgundy.
How's that for an answer?

SpectatorI think I’ll go with Burgundy. I have a darkred (probably was burgundy at soem point) boot stripe that we can match up when we paint that too.
I do like the idea of going with Black and seeing if we can’t film some “adult” whale movies. 😉 HA!-p

ParticipantI’ve seen one of those whale movies on Nature channel. You would have a very sticky situation in the cockpit.

ParticipantI try to choose and odd color so if I drink too much and fall over board I can look up and see which boat to swim to. Current economic situation has changed that, now I choose what’s on sale. I got Micron Extra for 159.00 of Ebay so blue it is.

How many coats are you planning? Previous owner of HiFlite painted blue
over red. A quick dive will tell you where you need additional paint.
If you see red you have worn off the top coat in that area. Other then
that I opt for whatever is on sale.Patrick Walters wrote:

ParticipantOr all things being equal, just go with the color with the most copper in it.

I like to completely change the color, so I can tell when it’s wearing through.
