Pictures here: http://drop.io/pearson424
The first picture shows the new engine bed, covered with plywood. Thin
layer of plywood slid on the thicker lower layer and the genset went
right in, albeit uphill all the way. The fuel tank has been removed.
Note the dark plywood on the engine bed. That is the plywood that was
around the tank. The darkness is from years of moisture and fuel. The
new tank is fiberglassed into the hull, under the salon. Pictures on
that later.
The second picture shows the boom we made for my buddy’s tractor. Note
the large block of concrete on the back as a counterweight (mostly for
lifting the main engine. We used this to take out the old engine and
will us it to put the new Beta 50 in next week.
Third picture: going in the hatch.
Fourth picture shows how much room there is under the cockpit with the
genset there. It is easy to get in the port laz to access the genset.
I also put in a hatch in the cockpit floor. Two 4″ air intakes were
installed in the port cooming box. The two air ports on the aft rail
now are both turbo suck fans. They turn on if either the engine or the
generator is running, keeping the engine compartment cool. I can also
turn them on manually or of course turn them off at the breaker for
operating in really cold weather.
I’ll send pictures of the final install with the new panel over the
engine, controls, etc in a couple of weeks.
Pete
