      Hello all,

It appears from the two threads in late August that at least 7 or 8
424’s will be represented at the show. As Pat and I represent the far
north Great Lakes contingent and seldom if ever meet other 424 people,
we would love to meet with as many of you as possible if only to put
faces to the names we’ve known over the years.
John and Alan suggested meeting at 2 pm at the roof top bar above
Pussers on Thursday. If most everyone can make that time great,
      otherwise any other suggestions?
      Our cell #’s are 608 347 4341 and 608 233 4341.
      Look forward to seeing everyone.

      Aloha from Hawaii

Hey guys i have a favor to ask. I am interested in getting one of passerelle type boarding ladders that SV Sarah has on their vessel. so far i have spoken to Besenzoni, imtra and looked at nemo. they all have simalar type aluminum folding gangway type ladders but i would like to look into the passerelle type stainless steel that drops down as a swim ladder. Besenzoni says they no longer make the stainless steel version “manual type” i think the number is a pt 164.

if you see anything that may be of interest at the boat show, please contact me at with any info: james bartch 808 256-6616 honolulu hawaii.

I am stern tied to the dock similar to med mooring style. the pricing i am seeing is in Euro’s at 1.4 times the US buck plus air freight “wow”.

and i am as far west as you can get… your help would be greatly appreciated.

I was just talking with Alan. I am thinking of driving down from Ottawa to meet up with him in Annapolis for the show.

We were wondering if meeting at 6PM, after the show on Thursday would work. Alan and I can both be there by then. Also, for those people that spent $35 for the VIP ticket, they will be able to get full value for it for the day.

      Would this work for everyone??

I will probably be at the show until closing so I will hang around.  Too bad we can't meet in Lorea's Tavern (long gone).

I plan on being at the show all day. I assume I can come and go at will, so it doesn’t matter to me when we get together.

I’m working during show hours, so I would not be able to join you guys in the afternoon. However, after the show closes on Thursday I’d meet up if you decide to do that.

      James,
I'll look to see if there are any vendors.  Imtra is always there.  Besenzoni and Nemo I don't remember seeing in the past.  They are more likely to be at the power boat show than the sailboat show.  I used to go to the Power Boat show.  Always enjoyed the difference in the female fashion at the two shows – from sweaters and practical shoes to miniskirts and spike heels.

      James,
I might add mine is long gone.  Sold it to friends I met in Lagos, PT in 2007.  They are still in the Med making great use of it.  I don't remember who made mine.  Bought it in Gib for I think 300 pound sterling.

      Cada,
If you send in a request for tickets with business letter head (make one up) you will get tickets for Thursday at a significant discount.  We used to get in for $3.  I think it was $10 last year.  Thursday is actually the least expensive day to attend.

It appears some can meet Thursday 2 PM, some Thursday 6 PM (including me), and some on other days or nights. I hope you’ll all stop by the Valiant 42 out on the docks to say hello at some point (but preferably not on Saturday). I’ll be there all day everyday (except for brief lunch breaks). I may not be able to chat for long – hardly at all during the Saturday insanity – but would be glad to meet all of you in person. You know none of us is going to look at all like we imagined.

To further clarify my suggested meeting point (at whatever time) I've attached a graphic of where the “above the Pusser's booth” is at the show.  This is actually a terrace of the Marriott hotel.  The nice thing about this location is access to the toilets in the hotel rather than the portable johns outside the show.

I went through the various e-mails on getting together at the show and it looks like the following can get together at the terrace above Pusser’s.

      Thursday:

      John, Alan, Paul/Joanne, Lee, Dave/Pat, Tor, Rick/Andrea

      Friday

      Alan, Paul/Joanne, Lee??, Dave/Pat, Tor, Cada/Susan, Quent/Claire.

Since not everyone can make both days, I suggest that we meet both evenings at 6 PM after the show. That way everyone can meet on Thurday and/or Friday, as their schedule fits.

      See everyone there.

Claire and I are back in town. We can be at Pussers after about 8:00PM on Thursday, and plan to be at show on Friday.

      To all
I came back from Kansas Wed night with a terrible cold (or maybe it was a mild H1N1?) which I didn't want to share with anyone.
      Sorry we missed seeing everyone.

Would you please mail my logos? Thanks

I went through the various e-mails on getting together at the show and it looks like the following can get together at the terrace above Pusser's.

      Thursday:

      John, Alan, Paul/Joanne, Lee, Dave/Pat, Tor, Rick/Andrea

      Friday

      Alan, Paul/Joanne, Lee??, Dave/Pat, Tor, Cada/Susan, Quent/Claire.

Since not everyone can make both days, I suggest that we meet both evenings at 6 PM after the show. That way everyone can meet on Thurday and/or Friday, as their schedule fits.

      See everyone there.

      Paul

Rick, I’ll put yours in the mail either tomorrow or Tuesday. No mail service tomorrow anyway.

Quent, I’m sorry I missed you Friday. We had a heck of a good time. If you still want the logos, send me your address and I will get them off to you Tuesday.

Karen and I had one hell of a great time at the boat show. Thursday we walked the exhibits and docks and, at about 6:00, we met up with Tor, Dave & Pat, Paul & Joann, Allen, and Lee & Marlyn (Dave and Pat’s friends from Minnesota) at the Marriott for drinks. Saturday morning we took the water taxi out to Allen’s boat and had a tour. I picked up several great ideas I will incorporate into Morning Glory. We all parted company and promised to make a huge effort to attend the next 424 roundup. When ever that happens.

Karen and I managed to escape the show missing only 1.6 boat units but with a bunch of good leads.

Sorry I missed about half the 424ers at the show.  I did get a chance to talk  with Dave and Pat and Allan.  Tor, I looked for you on the Valiant, but you must have been the in-the-cabin guy.  Either that or the pictures on your web-site are way out of date.
After being the one to recommend the rendezvous at the Pusser's Deck, I am a bit embarrassed to be the no-show.  I found out some of my friends consider me to be the prodigal son and demanded my presence for dinner and an overnight stay.  Being a fixed incomer I cannot afford to pass up free food and free lodging.  Unfortunately none of my friends live in the immediate Annapolis area.  So my commutes were Lusby, MD to Annapolis (55 miles -twice); Annapolis to Frederick, MD (about 85 miles) and then Frederick to DC (about 50 miles).  Tonight I'm back in New Bern (350 miles from DC).  I think I'll let the car get a rest for a few days.  I did pick up enough stuff to keep me busy for the rest of the month.
I enjoyed the show as always, but I was disappointed by the lack of factory reps at the show.  Just distributors and retailers in the tents.  Looks like I'll have to use the Internet for my research of wind charges, solar panels and water makers.

      Hi Lee-
Sorry I didn’t make it to Pussers Thursday. My ride from DC was having too much fun, and I was late getting to Annapolis. Claire and I did have a great time with the group Friday after all day at the boatshow. Feet still hurt.
I’ll put a check in the mail tomorrow. Please send me the decals when you receive it.
      John-
I agree that there seemed to be fewer factory reps present at the show. It also seemed less well attended that prior years. Too many huge boats, not enough affordable ones. I did meet a Comnav/Nexus guy out of St Pete FL named Dick Booth who knows his stuff. He also said Jon Josephson, late of Nexus is now with Garmin. Got nothing from Raymarine but their 800 number.
The Kubota with the cooling water pump pulley was Nextgen. It also appears on Ferris catalogue p.32, on the DC charger FDC150E.
      Paul-
As soon as I get over to the boat, I’ll get pics of the washing machine.
As I said, perhaps not my best idea, but Claire likes it.

Rumor is Raymarine is getting bought out by a larger competitor.

I heard the rumor, too. Supposedly the larger competitor is Garmin.

Bummer. I actually like my Raymarine C-80. Of course, it’s wired to Nexus insturments and a Garmin GPS.
