No, Dan, I drink the beer without pay. But I’m working
on that.
SAIL has accepted 2-dozen of those little Cruising and
BoatWorks Tips from me so far, and I probably have as
many more things I can write about. It’s gratifying to
see them in print, for sure. The fact is, many if not
most of them showed up first on this forum, either my
idea or someone else’s. Sometimes I’ve virtually copied
the email I wrote to you guys, like about rope caulk,
cleaned it up a little, added a photo and sent it to
SAIL. They love that practical “how-to” stuff. I did
that with my boast about Silverheels kissing 9.7 knots
a year ago, too. Bragged about it here to you guys
first, then sent it almost verbatim to Cruising World.
Like you said, Dan, easy money. I love it!
Some of you in this P424 group have built or are
building awesome websites depicting in great detail the
improvements you’ve made to your boats. Take 2
paragraphs about one of those projects, add a photo or
two, and send it to a boating magazine. You won’t get
rich, but it’ll pay for the beer (which you’ll then
have to drink unpaid – so far.)
