Does anybody know who made our original bow chocks and if they are still
avaiable. I have a broken one I would like to replace.

      Thanks,

      Paul

      Hi Paul,

I don't know, but you can get nice ones here:

      http://www.marinepartdepot.com/new316ststcl2.html

Also, ABI Marine probably has them, too – the advantage to the first is that the chocks are straight through not at an angle requiring much gnashing of teeth to get big lines through.

      Paul,
I assume they are Perko. Similar ones appear on page 172 of their catalogue. I assume you can get them through WM or Defender.

      Bob /John:

Thanks for the links, however, none of them carry an 8″ chock. The originals
look like they were sized for up to 1.5″ line. Both of mine are bent and one
broken, another sign my boat didn’t spend all its time in a quiet anchorage
      somewhere.

I took a closer look (with my glasses on) and there is a symbol with a “W”,
with a circle around it, on the chock. I tried Whitecap Industries, but they
don’t have large chocks either. I can’t think of another company that starts
with W??, that would makes sense.

      Wichard?

If it is Wichard it is likely not original equipment.

Send me a photo of what you have and please measure it. Pearson didn’t build all our boats the same, so yours may be different than mine. There’s a local marine store that bought out quite a lot of Pearson’s spare parts when they went out of business. If you send me the info, I’ll take a peak and see if they have a matching part.

WC was purchased by Thetford, which still supplies some of the old hardware, but I didn't see any chocks in their website: http://www.wilcoxcrittenden.com/index.asp?bid=

I had to replace mine about four years ago. I still have one that no longer
matches the new ones. I will send it if I can find it. Shoot me your
address and I’ll look for it on Monday and see if I can get it in the mail
      to you.

      Dave:

Thanks. I had the name of some company whose initials were W-C that was in
the back of my mind all morning. I was googling names like Wilton-Cox, etc,
before I figured it out about the same time as your e-mail. However, as John
indicated, they only carry cleats now, no chocks.

Linus, thanks for the offer. For the interest of the group, which brand did
you install. I couldn’t find anyone supplying 8″ chocks. Most seem to be 6″
      or smaller.

I ended up with a smaller chock and I put a stainless plate under to cover
the area where the old chock was. I don’t like them because the edges are
sharper and the angle is wrong but it was all that I could come up with at
that time. It just amazes me that there are not larger ones available. I
have thought of going with hawser pipes like I think it was Jubilee. But
till I hold those in my hands I don’t know if they would be easier on the
lines or if that is the solution.
