      Hi all,
I don’t know the make/manufacturer of the original Shaft Brake on my 1980 P424, but it looks like I need some new brake pads.

      1. Can anyone here tell me “which pads” they are (or recommend an equivalent I can order)?

      2. Does anyone have a PDF Owners Manual for the shaft brake device? It might be helpful as I attempt to remove and replace the pads.

As usual, I appreciate your focused and informative answers to my questions.

      Thank you,

      paul

These are the pads I used.  They required drilling but have worked fine for my limited use.  They are a very close match to the ones that came out.

      Hope this helps

      Thanks Linus,
Those are the same ones that Rich recommended. But I can’t figure out how they would attached to my Shaft Brake. I have “car-like” pads that are rectangular or oblong.

Maybe mine is just very different.

Wow, mine are nothing like those. The ones on my brake are rectangular. I ended up getting a sheet of rigid brake pad material from McMaster Carr and cutting a few to size. I guess they used a variety of brakes over the years.
