Any thoughts on some of the folding davit products out there?  The Forespar Nova product looks pretty sharp.

Ask Garhauer.  Whatever Forespar makes, Garhauer will make for less money and it will be sexier to boot.

I’m in the market for a telescoping whisker pole (around 13′ closed X 24′ fully extended X 3″-3.5″ dia. tubing). Do you think Garhauer would be a good call for that, as well? Any other recommendations? Anybody have a used one they want to sell?

I don’t think so, Tor. Forespar will, though. I used to have one.

      Chuck,
Doug and I both  have the Kato davits.
Sexy and strong – their holding up our large Apex w/ 15hp outboard.
Company is in Annapolis and has been around for a long time. They keep a history of the install. When I called about additional rail supports they had everything on file about the install by the previous owner.

Thanks Rick, I asked around at a party at the marina over the weekend and Kato came up a couple times with positive feedback.

Ditto for me. I found Kato to be a very good company to deal with and I have been pleased with the product since I installed the davits nearly 10 years ago. See the P-424 Photo Gallery for reinforcement I added to reduce load on the rail.
