      Hello again,

Just thought I would let ya’ll know that I completed the cabin sole project. I used NautikFlor, sold through World Panel. Mine is the teak/holly design.
The job turned out great, from an appearance standpoint. Longevity of the material is something I will know more about with time.

NautikFlor is a PVC product, impervious to water. It is printed with the design, and the design is embossed to make it look more like actual teak/holly. I have had several experienced folks assume it was actual wood. Install was easy, though I have a lot of residential floor experience. It is a snap together, with planks four feet long. In a marine application, it is also glued down, as opposed to a dry land application where it can be allowed to float, like a conventional floating floor. Loctite premium PL is specified, and is applied with a caulk gun. The product is sold by the box, at about $300 per box, and I ordered three boxes. Had exactly one plank left over. But I did not do the head compartment. The original floor in there is nice and I like to leave some originality to whatever I work on, when possible. So if you wanted to do the head, you would need an extra box. Be advised that I was pretty accurate with cuts, and there were no mis cuts.

The lines you might see on a normal snap together are very hard to see with this product. The long side lines coincide with the holly strips and cannot be seen. The cross lines, where the planks join on the short ends are visible, but not apparent. You have to look twice to see them. And with four foot planks there aren’t too many anyway.
