I am having cockpit cushions made in Taiwan. Might be as little as $500 for just one. Anybody want to join me to possibly drive down the price further, and save on shipping?

They will be sunbrella on top and a pfifertex-type mesh on the bottom. I am planning on 3 cushions total, one all the way across the back, one on each side, none on the bridge deck. I am willing to consider other approaches.

First estimate is $300 without foam. I am going to use polyester foam that is open and lets water run right through. It is designed for lawn furniture, and is quite inexpensive; I think it will be about $200 for 3” (come in 2” and 1” thickness, glued together for 3”). The best costs a lot more, but this sits very well with me (pun intended). My wife did a test sit, and declared it good for sitting or sunbathing.

I had my dodger and the engine lid cover ( https://www.pearson424.org/gallery/Canvas-enclosure-over-engine-cover ) made by this same person, with good results – not great, but good.

$500 sounds very reasonalble. I might suggest using 5 sections (one across the rear, two on each side) simply to make them smaller and easier to store. Let me know how it goes.
