Real quick, bow and cabin cowl vents – what diameter? 3 or 4 inch?

Pardon the brevity. I’m typing this on my phone and I hate typing on my
      phone.

Forgot there is a dorade box over the head, but the PO replaced cowl with a
low profile vent. Think it’s 3″.

Bob, all three of mine are the same. the actual cowl or vents when taken
      out, measure 3 1/4″ across.

Except for the bow vent, all are 4″. The cowl should be glued to the insert ring. If it comes loose, the cowl can fall off and then overboard with surprising ease.

” The cowl should be glued to the insert ring”

Or just replace the cowl with the cover plate when underway. I always
remove the cowl for off-shore passages.

interesting. …maybe it’s just my boat (*#118), but the original dorade
box above the head takes a 3″ vent. just replaced it when a sheet took the
old one overboard. Thanks for the reminder, John, to put in the cap when
      offshore!
