      Alan,
The R&D Damper plate was removed today and is clearly damaged. These
plates are pretty new and my mechanic has never seen one before. So he is
doing a lot of investigation and asking lots of questions. Based on the
labeling stamped on the plate, it was installed backwards – the side
stamped “Engine” was facing the transmission. However it clearly could not
be installed in the direction stamped. Possibly the center portion of the
plate (the portion that accepts the spline from the transmission) can be
removed and rotated. Lots of question right now, but no answers.
Do you have records that can provide the model of the plate you installed?
Mine was spec’d by Mack Boring via Lamb’s Boatyard in Jacksonville, FL. I
am not much impressed with either organization.

      Regards,
      John Stevenson
