For everyone who loves the ocean and the life that’s in it.
The Whale and Dolphin Watch Team is passionate about saving the last of the
endangered whales, as well as thousands of other whales, dolphins and sea
creatures. Unfortunately, some of our government agencies are not. Now it’s
time for the rest of us to get involved, to make a stand and be heard. The Department of Fisheries/NOAA has decided to allow the US Navy to proceed
with their plans to decimate our ocean populations with sonar sounds,
exploding bombs and sinking of ships. According to the Navy’s own estimation
there will be 31 million incidents of harm to whales and dolphins over the
next 5 years. This “harm” can include disrupting their migratory patterns,
their ability to get food and communicate with their young, and can lead to
permanent hearing loss and even bleeding to death. 31 million whales and
dolphins! This is a staggering number and an unconscionable atrocity.Right now we, the American taxpayers, employers of both The Department of
Fisheries/NOAA and the US Navy, have one last opportunity to have our voices
heard, to let them know we find their behavior unacceptable. Our strength
lies in our numbers. When we act together we CAN change the world. When each
one of us shares this information with a few friends, we create a
groundswell that soon becomes millions of people proclaiming “that’s
enough,” demanding that the Navy stop the slaughter once and for all. Please sign this petition, post it on social media sites and get your
friends to sign. We need to make this a major media event. If we stand by
and do nothing we may lose forever some of our oceans’ most beloved species.
Now is the time. The Department of Fisheries/NOAA is accepting comments only
until March 11, 2013. Please help by clicking on the link to add your voice.<http://signon.org/sign/stop-us-navy-plans-to-1?mailing_id=8845&source=s.icn

I believe the information in the email I sent (below) is correct, but I
haven’t researched it personally. It came from a fellow P424 owner and I
just thought it might be of general interest. Two things:1) The long text link in the email appears to have been broken into several
lines. It won’t work unless it’s complete and intact:http://signon.org/sign/stop-us-navy-plans-to-1?mailing_id=8845&source=s.icn.
em.cr&r_by=5238772) After I signed the petition, I got an email from The Whale and Dolphin
Watch Team, thanking me and asking for a $5 donation. Then I got another
email asking me to sign another, totally unrelated political petition. It
seems that website is part of a “progressive, nonprofit online campaign
platform” that supports all kinds of petitions. That second email offered an
“unsubscribe” option at the bottom so you can remove yourself from their
email list.I didn’t mean to introduce a political forum into our Pearson 424 group.
Just wanted to save a few whales & dolphins. Thanks,
Tor
