where all the nuts and bolts and washers and some tools go when you drop them and never find them again.
You’d be surprised the places you can go when you don’t have an engine or fuel tank in the boat. Forward side of starboard sail locker, all the way down in the corner.
I actually thought I’d find a TV remote or two in there.

Occasionally I happen upon an errant screw or nut that
I’m sure was dropped by a Pearson workman in 1977.

How about in those deep sharp edged boxes of the engine bed frame. A couple
of those places were holding water, washers, nuts, screws, bolts, zip-tie
cut-offs and accumulated caca in general. I found with the engine in, you
can’t get an arm to bend into them. A past owner had drilled small holes
but really didn’t get close enough to the lowest spot. I had to go in from
“under” the actual frame and drill almost blind through some wood wedges to
get a decent 5/16″ hole to the bottom of them.

I believe I have almost a full set of sockets down there somewhere. Hoping they’ll eventually roll out for rescue.

Ferrous metal sockets are easy. Just poke around with
one of those magnets on a stick. It’s the stainless
      stuff that’s challenging.

I can’t imagine what it is like to have a boat with an aluminum hull where you cant leave any dropped stainless hardware because of electrolysis eventually rotting through the aluminum.
