I want an upgrade. Looking at Garhauer. What new tackle or combos does the fleet use for jibs/gennie?

All Garhauer with their adjustable genoa sheet cars. Great stuff.

Although I don’t have any Garhauer gear, I cannot recommend them highly
      enough.

Carried over a pair of Garhauer Genoa blocks from prior boat, a Pearson 36. Wonderful gear. However the sheet lead on the 424 was too angled from the track for the car to work properly. Suggest you try before you buy.

Must be different ones than the ones I have. Mine run freely.

Maybe the standing single block instead of the track block that only flops from side to side? Or the sliding track system with a single standing track mounted block to the winch…

Don’t really need the ez-glide because I don’t race and kind of move in slow motion. Conservation of energy, y’know.

Start of attached email. Subject: Re: Genoa blocks

Last week, my port side Nicro genoa sheet snatch block parted while tacking. The snap-shackle is attached to the block with a threaded stud. A small roll-pin is inserted in the assembly to prevent the stud from unscrewing. I suspect that the pin was hardened steel and not stainless. I’ll be looking at replacing it with a better block.

Pete, if I recall, you also have Garhauer a main track that is custom made of polished 316 SS and 24k gold plated. I remember that it was very bling but if I recall you got a brother-in-law deal because you were writing for Blue Water magazine. Mine is aluminum with a fresh coat of Interlux Brightside.

My blocks are what Garhauer called low lead blocks. They worked fine as long as the sheet lead was close to aligned with the track, but rubbed on the cheeks if the sheet lead crossed the track. You could remedy with a second track block, but why bother?
