ParticipantHi All,
Hope this works and makes some kind of since. This is the first time I have posted on any forum. I’ve been reading over your shoulders(posts) for about a year and a half, have learned much and would like to thank you all for all the groovy info.
I bought Hull # 53 (yumi) just over a year ago, that name will change soon. Have done a little of the work that she needs and will be living aboard a month from now,at most.
I suppose that I should add this comment to the post about Cheap/Great…,but am here now so.
I diden’t see the purchase info of my boat in the list added to that post.
I was very Happy to pay 68,500. for my 424 a year ago and am still feeling good about it.
I don’t actually have any questions at the moment and if I continue to type I will just contiue to ramble on with out adding any thing constructive so…
See Ya, and again THANKS -

Hi Scott,
I have a 424 in Alameda. #84 “Running Tab”. I bought her from a retired navy captain In Huntington Harbor for $30,000 four years ago. She needed everything from sails to bimini to modern electronics (gps, radar etc.) Interior cushions, engine work, fuel tank cleaning, all new port and window glass, bottom blisters, teak refurbish… need I go on? Thus the name Running Tab. It was just surveyed her at an 82,000 value. To me she is priceless, not for sale. I am keeping her for my escape plan. Still have a huge list to add to the Tab but that’s what makes messing around on boats so rewarding. I looked at your boat when she was at my marina. They are awesome SF bay boats and love a good blow.
Let’s get together for a raft up when the weather gets warmer.

ParticipantThanks Bob.
Tor, I have been dragging my feet about the move to the bay and the boat, I kind of wanted to be on the boat “realy doing it” before I talked to much about it.
I’m at that point, the lease on my appartment in Stockton CA (the worst city in US according to some GOOD reports) is up in 3 weeks.Bill, You saw my boat in Alameda? I had her there getting a Dodger and Bimini at Pacific Coast Canvas, That sound about right.
I was and am Happy about what I’ve spent so far. I think I may have spent a bit much on the canvas ($7000) but it was a whole new thing, frame made of solid gold, platinum canvas, CA you know. 😀
That was the bigest expence so far.
I bought her from the original owner who used her as a floating hotel room when he came down to the bay from Sac. She was at the same birth for 29 years and I was told that he sailed her once every 5 years or so. Which I belive based on her exelent condition, the log book I found on board, and the 216 (yes 216) original hours on the W60.
The PO had her maintained at KKMI often I have all the records. When I had her inspected no blisters, 4 year old rigging (running and standing) repainted masts and new miz and jib at same time.
Serveyed value 75000 1-30-08. 😀So yes Bill, It would be great to get togeather some time, I’m in Emeryville (or will be soon).
We’ll have to do the email thing and arange some thing, Oh by the way I am in Alameda a fare amount I have been going to Club Nautique taking lessons and teaching a bit for a couple of years.
