The second item that was never “fixed” was engine access. This is made worse considering that the engine is reversed.
Access to the engine usually involved the following;
1) Remove the steps
2) Remove the engine top cover
3) Remove six screws from aft panel
4) Remove aft panel.
5) Pile everything somewhere – usually in the aft cabin
6) Remove main engine box and pile it on top of all the other items
This begged for improvement!
1) The aft panel was discarded
2) A new framework provided in line with electrical locker
3) Removable doors, with sound proofing. Long term plan is to modify the steps
4) A shelf installed above the engine, with sound proofing underneath
5) A hatch on the front of the main engine box installed so as to get to some of the ‘rear’ items
The result is that it does actually look good, never mind the additional functionality and storage space.
The plan for the steps is to have two sections. Some steps on the hatch on the engine box, and a new, smaller section that rests on the engine top cover, for the upper portion.
